Game World (Islands & Locations)

Motor Town features a vast open world composed of three distinct islands, each offering unique landscapes, challenges, and opportunities for players. The world is divided into Jeju Island in the north, Oji Island in the south, and the smaller Ansan Island situated between them. These islands are interconnected by two long bridges: one stretching from Sinchang on Jeju to Biyang on Oji via Ansan Island, and another connecting Seongsan directly to northern Biyang.

Jeju Island

Jeju Island is a volcanic island boasting a temperate climate, reminiscent of its real-life South Korean counterpart. Its diverse geography includes beaches, grasslands, flower fields, forests, and a prominent snow-capped volcano. The island features a well-developed road system supporting public transportation via bus and taxi services.

While largely rural, Jeju Island is home to several farms, ranches, racetracks, a fishing village, and a handful of small towns. The largest urban centers are Gang-Jung and its neighboring downtown Seo-Gui-Po, located in the south-central part of the map. The Military Base is situated north of the volcano, and Jeju Town (including the airport) is found in the northern region.

Ansan Island

Ansan Island is a small landmass positioned strategically between Jeju and Oji Islands, connected by a network of highways. The island is primarily occupied by the Ansan Speedway racetrack and its adjacent facilities. A raised section of highway running next to the island is a popular spot for players to engage in top speed record attempts.

Ansan Speedway is the longest racetrack in the game (2.6 km), featuring a challenging combination of long straights and sharp hairpin turns. It is well-equipped with 20 garages, a fuel pump, and a charging station, and is fully illuminated for night racing.

Oji Island

Oji Island is the game's largest landmass, presenting a blend of mountainous forests, rolling green hills, impassable deserts, and coastal cliffs. It is sparsely populated, offering considerably longer routes for drivers. The island is linked to the rest of the map via extensive highways and bridges. Keep in mind that Oji Island has limited services, with no garages and only two gas stations (Biyang and Joil), making careful fuel and vehicle condition management crucial.

* Towns & Locations:

  • The main town on Oji Island is Gapa.
  • Gwangjin is a remote town deep in the mountains, accessible via a challenging off-road route.
  • Migeum features off-road logging sites but lacks a permanent population.

* Natural Resources:

* Deserts:

  • The northwestern deserts, near Dongsan and Nobong, are traversable and full of large sand dunes, perfect for off-roading and rallies.
  • The southwestern desert near Dasa Harbour is mostly impassable, limiting vehicles to first gear due to the sand conditions. It is advisable to stick to the paved roads when traveling to Dasa Harbour.

Game World Distances

The longest journey in the game spans approximately 40 km, from Jeju Harbor (north on Jeju) to Dasa Harbor (southwest on Oji). Here are some other key distances:

Town Bonus

Town bonuses are a significant feature influenced by population and payment bonuses. Each town has a terminal and a supermarket, and its overall status is tracked by bus, food, patrol, and garbage coverage levels. Higher coverage levels increase the town's population bonus, which in turn boosts job payments.

The formula for bonuses is:

  • Town Population Bonus = Bus Coverage + Food Supply + (Patrol Coverage * 0.2) + (Garbage Collection * 0.2)
  • Town Payment Bonus = Town Population Bonus * 0.2 (capped at 30%)

While increasing coverage leads to more people to transport and higher payments, there are diminishing returns. For example, a bus coverage beyond 80% will not offer additional town bonus, though the displayed percentage may exceed 80%.
