Town Bonus
The Town Bonus system in Motor Town significantly influences the economy and gameplay within each town on the server. It is primarily designed to incentivize players to engage in various public service activities, benefiting both the individual player and the wider community.
There are two main types of Town Bonuses:
- Population Bonus: This increases the number of passengers available for bus jobs, leading to more opportunities for bus drivers.
- Payment Bonus: This provides an added percentage bonus to the payment received for cargo deliveries made to the town.
How it Works
Each town maintains its own individual coverage levels across several public services: Bus Coverage, Food Supply, Patrol Coverage, and Garbage Collection. Increasing these coverage levels directly boosts the town's Population Bonus.
The Town Bonus is calculated using the following formulas:
Town Population Bonus = Bus Coverage + Food Supply + (Patrol Coverage * 0.2) + (Garbage Collection * 0.2) Town Payment Bonus = Town Population Bonus * 0.2 (Max 30%)
Dynamics and Optimization
The system incorporates a self-balancing mechanism: The more passengers are transported or services are provided to a town, the larger its population gets. While this initially means more spawned opportunities, the bonus begins to decrease faster (diminishing returns). For sustained efficiency, it is often more effective to focus efforts on 2 or 3 regions rather than spreading services thinly across the entire map, as beyond a certain point (e.g., after 5 or 6 buses), the increase in bonus becomes marginal.
It is important to note that the bonus derived from Food Supply and Bus Coverage is capped. Even if these coverage percentages reach 100%, the maximum contribution to the Town Bonus will not exceed what is achieved at 80% coverage. This prevents over-optimization of a single aspect from disproportionately affecting the overall balance.
