Job Types

Motor Town offers a variety of ways to earn money and contribute to the server's economy. Here's an overview of the different job types available:

Cargo Delivery

Transporting goods using vehicles such as trucks, semi-trucks, and trailers is a core part of the game. Delivering food to supermarkets, for example, directly helps with increasing town bonuses.

Vehicles and Cargo Spaces

Cargo Payment Scaling

To balance profitability between small and large capacity vehicles, cargo value scales with the vehicle's cargo capacity:

  • If a vehicle fits only 1 unit of a cargo type, you get full value.
  • If a vehicle fits 4 units, you get 50% of the value per unit (meaning all 4 units together are worth twice the base value: `4 * 50% = 2x base`).
  • For any other cargo capacity, use this formula to calculate the loaded value:

`loaded value = √(capacity) / capacity * base value`

Notes on Specific Cargo

  • 'Dump Cargo': This category includes Iron Ore, Coal, Sand, Limestone, and Fine Sand.
  • 'Fine Sand': Can be used to make concrete, similar to normal sand, but offers a higher delivery payment. It is a “dump” category cargo.
  • 'Concrete': Can only be delivered using a Mixi, and the Mixi only transports concrete. Its cargo category is “Dry Bulk”.
  • 'Food Pallets': Produced by farms and factories, consumed by supermarkets, and can be stored in warehouses. Some food pallets, like meat and cheese, are factory-produced rather than farmed.
    • For instance, Apple, chilli, and potato pallets are typically generated by supplying containers to warehouses, not directly from farms.
  • 'Log 30ft' and 'Snack Box' are not produced anywhere on the map.
  • 'Empty Supply Boxes': Can be found scattered around the Military Base (large blue boxes). Each has a random destination. While available as contract jobs, most players find them tedious and unprofitable.
  • 'Airline Meal Pallets': This is a timed delivery cargo. It must be delivered to Jeju Airport within 2 minutes after being picked up.
  • 'Passively Supplied': This term indicates that a farm or factory produces an item continuously over time, even without external inputs. The production rate can often be increased by supplying fuel or other cargo to that location.

Formula SCM Racecar Materials

  • The small boxes and Box Pallet A required for building the Formula SCM racecar can be found randomly in warehouses around Jeju.

Garbage Collection

Drive a Compacy to collect garbage around the map. Once you have collected the garbage, dispose of it at the Power Plant. This job helps with increasing town bonuses.

Towing and Rescue

Utilize tow trucks or carrier trailers like the Lomax to tow vehicles to a specified spot. Some vehicles may be flipped, requiring winching to rescue them. This job does 'not' contribute to town bonuses.

  • Towing and rescue requests appear on the map, showing the vehicle's name and weight. Make sure you choose a job that your tow vehicle can handle.
  • If a tow request is spawned in an awkward position (e.g., on top of buildings, on a light pole, in the ocean), please contact an admin to have it cancelled.

Policing

Drive a police vehicle to patrol checkpoints around the map. Players who speed beyond the speed limit may become suspects, which you can then catch and optionally fine. Policing contributes to town bonuses.

Bus Driver

Pick up passengers along a designated bus route and drop them off. You must time your arrivals at stops precisely to get an on-time bonus, avoiding being too early or too late. This job contributes to town bonuses.

Hitchhikers

You can drive hitchhikers to their destination to receive 100 XP, but they do not pay any money.
